1. Introduction
At Ashley Classics & Retros, we take pride in supplying quality classic and retro automotive parts.
We carefully describe our products and, where reasonably possible, inspect and test used components before sale.
This Warranty Policy explains the warranty coverage provided with products purchased from Ashley Classics & Retros.
This policy applies alongside your statutory rights under UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Your legal rights are not affected by this warranty.
2. Warranty Periods
New Parts
New parts are supplied with a 3-month commercial warranty against manufacturing defects. Where a manufacturer provides a longer warranty, this may apply and will be stated where applicable.
Used Parts
Used parts are supplied with a 30-day commercial warranty from the date of delivery. Due to the age and previous use of these components, this warranty covers faults that affect normal operation and not expected age-related characteristics.
Reconditioned Parts
Reconditioned parts are supplied with the warranty period stated within the individual product listing. Where applicable, details of refurbishment work carried out will be provided.
New Old Stock (NOS)
NOS parts are unused items that may have been stored for many years. Storage marks, ageing packaging or minor cosmetic imperfections do not affect their NOS classification. Warranty coverage relates to manufacturing defects or faults that prevent normal intended use, subject to applicable law.
3. What the Warranty Covers
Where applicable, this warranty covers:
- manufacturing defects;
- faults present at the time of supply;
- failure of components within the stated warranty period.
Before approving a warranty claim, we may request:
- photographs;
- videos;
- diagnostic information;
- inspection of the item;
- evidence of professional installation.
4. What the Warranty Does Not Cover
Incorrect Installation
Failure caused by incorrect fitting, poor workmanship, incorrect adjustment, improper installation methods or installation by an unsuitable person is not covered.
Incorrect Vehicle Application
The customer is responsible for ensuring the part is suitable for their vehicle. Warranty claims will not normally be accepted where the incorrect part has been ordered, the vehicle specification does not match, or modifications are required but have not been disclosed.
Wear and Age-Related Condition
The warranty does not cover:
- cosmetic imperfections;
- surface corrosion;
- fading;
- deterioration caused by age;
- normal wear and tear;
- deterioration caused by storage conditions after delivery.
Misuse or Modification
The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, racing or competition use, modifications, incorrect operating conditions, neglect or accidents.
5. Electrical Components
Electrical components require particular care due to the possibility of incorrect installation, vehicle wiring faults and compatibility issues.
Where electrical items are supplied, customers should ensure correct voltage and specification, correct wiring and correct installation procedure.
Electrical components damaged due to incorrect fitting, reversed polarity, incorrect wiring or vehicle faults are not covered.
Where possible, electrical components are tested before sale.
6. Professional Installation
Ashley Classics & Retros strongly recommends that all mechanical and safety-critical components are installed by a suitably qualified and reputable mechanic. Examples include:
- braking components;
- suspension components;
- steering components;
- engine components;
- drivetrain components.
Evidence of professional installation may be requested when assessing warranty claims.
7. Warranty Claim Process
If you believe an item has developed a fault within the applicable warranty period, please contact us before removing, repairing or replacing the item.
Please provide:
- your name;
- order number;
- date of purchase;
- vehicle details;
- description of the issue;
- photographs or videos where possible.
Do not return items without contacting us first. Unauthorised returns may cause delays.
8. Inspection and Assessment
All warranty claims are assessed individually. We may require the item to be returned for inspection.
If a fault is confirmed to be covered under this warranty, we may offer:
- repair;
- replacement;
- refund;
- another appropriate remedy.
The remedy provided will depend on the circumstances and applicable consumer law.
9. Labour and Additional Costs
Unless required by law, this warranty does not cover additional costs including:
- labour charges;
- garage fees;
- recovery charges;
- vehicle hire;
- loss of use;
- loss of earnings;
- additional parts damaged due to failure.
Customers should seek professional advice before installing parts where significant labour costs may be involved.
10. Returns During Warranty Period
Where a warranty return is approved, we will provide return instructions.
Customers should package returned items securely to prevent further damage.
Where a fault is confirmed to be covered, reasonable return postage costs may be reimbursed.
11. Transfer of Warranty
Unless otherwise stated, warranty coverage applies only to the original purchaser and cannot be transferred to another person or vehicle.
12. Statutory Rights
This warranty is provided in addition to your statutory rights.
Nothing in this policy limits or removes rights you may have under UK consumer protection legislation.
